The children in CPU’s JAM (Junior and Music) program were given an amazing opportunity this winter: They helped to compose an original song!

As part of a KidZone discussion about miracles, the children were invited to come up with those things in their lives that they considered to be miracles. An incredible list ensued–full of wonder! CPU’s Family and Youth Ministries Coordinator, Christie Smith Favit, asked the JAM guitarist, talented singer-songwriter Pat Mayberry, if she could weave the children’s words into a song. Pat accepted, and the amazing song she created has already become a CPU classic.

The children of JAM shared their song (complete with  hands in the air whenever the lyrics corresponded to their own words) with the congregation on February 8, 2015 to the delight of all. Have a listen below–you’ll see the lyrics underneath.

What a moving, memorable experience!

1. Jesus lived so long ago.
He walked on water and don’t you know,
He healed a women at the well one day.
And lots of people who were sick and lame.
Turned the water into wine.
Helped us all to learn to shine.
‘Cause every person is a miracle!
We’ve all got a story to tell.

Refrain
O how these things could happen?
Well sometimes it’s a mystery.
Or maybe it’s when we’re together
God, you and me…
Do you believe…… in miracles?

2.There are things I thought
I could never do
But I made a hat and a cool scarf too!
I did a cartwheel when I was five.
A flip and the monkeybars, a real skydive.
Taught my sister how to say
“Papillon,” I was amazed!
And every year the flowers blow;
I’m gonna watch them grow

Refrain
O how these things could happen?
Well sometimes it’s a mystery.
Or maybe it’s when we’re together
God, you and me…
Do you believe…… in miracles?

3. I’ve got a friend and she’s the best.
Family, friends yes I’ve been blessed.
Grandma’s well, my cat survived,
That’s a miracle it ain’t no lie.
Let’s remember, hear the call.
God’s the blueprint for it all.
Now it’s up to us to make
Miracles everyday

Refrain
O how these things could happen?
Well sometimes it’s a mystery.
Or maybe it’s when we’re together
God, you and me…
Do you believe…… in miracles?
Do you believe…… in miracles?
