A World Day of Prayer service was held on Friday, March 2, 2012, at 1:30pm at Cedar Park United Church. The prayer focus was on Malaysia and its unique culture and heritage, and Christians in more than 170 countries around the world and 2,000 communities across Canada gathered to pray and act in solidarity with the people of Malaysia.
Celebrated every year, the World Day of Prayer 2012 service was written by the women of Malaysia. Along with the theme “Let Justice Prevail.” the women of Malaysia name fair and just governance as the basis for peace and harmony in the social order: “In the midst of such diversity, tolerance and harmony, fair and just governance for all is vital. It is our prayer that all races, ethnic groups and religions will work together for religious harmony and a just and integral development for everyone.”
Cedar Park United Church was pleased to have the opportunity of hosting this local World Day of Prayer, and more than 50 people from around the West Island attended. The event was followed by fellowship and light refreshments. Many thanks go out to all those who gave of their time and energy to organize this event.
