Linens and cloth figure prominently in today’s Gospel, and in the stories of the passion of Jesus as the tools with which humans care for the sick, the unhoused, the displaced and the dying. This invites us to consider how we might participate in local or global efforts to make more equitable use of clothing and textiles.

Opportunities to contribute

  • Be creative with your clothing so it can serve you a long, long time: re-make it, re-use it, re-imagine it (instead of just getting rid of it).

  • If you have young children, find a “clothing buddy” with children just a bit younger and offer to be a continuous source of used clothing for them as your children grow.

  • Whenever you can, buy used clothing, not new.
