COVID-19, and the war in Ukraine have changed so much, even the way we eat our “daily bread,” and the way we share Communion “Bread of Life/Bread for the Journey.”
Our ordinary object this week is “BREAD.”
Some questions to consider as we begin the second week of this Lenten journey:
How will you be mindful of the bread we eat and the bread of life this week?
How will you help others who are less food-secure to eat their daily bread?
Consider supporting your local food banks with a cash donation (so that they can meet the inflationary costs of the bread they provide). If you live on the West Island, you can give to the West Island Mission.

Opportunities to contribute
Make a donation to a local food bank, or call to ask what they need the most right now.
Whenever you make a dish for your family, save a portion or two for CPU’s Comfort Care Freezer.
“Grow a row” in your garden that’s specifically for West Island Mission (or a food bank wherever you are). At harvest time, deliver your produce to them so they can feed hungry folks.
When you get that “free” grocery item, take it—and then donate it!
Don’t overbuy groceries, to prevent food waste.
