Funerals
Planning a memorial, funeral or celebration of life at Cedar Park United
Welcome
The congregation and staff of Cedar Park United wish to express our sympathy to you at this time. We are committed to doing our best to help you and your family in the process of celebrating the life of your loved one. Cedar Park United offers a ministry of love and hope to all who grieve.
The following information is provided to assist you and the church to plan the funeral service.
Initial contact with the church
The ministry personnel and staff of Cedar Park United will meet with the family and do their best to answer all of your questions and accommodate any special requests.
First and foremost, it is important that you confirm ministry availability and the time and date of the service as soon as possible to give the church and the minister time to prepare. Please reach out to our minister for this: mcaveney@cedarparkunited.org
Planning the service
Once the service time has been confirmed by the church administrator, the minister will meet with you to lead you through planning the service.
You will also have the opportunity to meet with the church staff if you have any further questions concerning facility use.
All funerals are required to be under the direction of the minister of Cedar Park United.
Music
Music is an important part of a service. An organ and a grand piano are located in the sanctuary.
All arrangements for you to supply your own organist or pianist must meet with the approval of the church music director.
All music must meet with the approval of the ministry staff.
We can assist you in booking soloists or instrumentalists, or you may wish to use a musician of your own choice.
Reception
After the service, many people wish to have a reception. This is helpful because it allows families and friends to gather and share stories and memories and offer support to one another.
Cedar Park United has a large Community Hall and kitchen for hosting receptions. Should you wish, we would be happy to recommend trusted caterers if you would are interested in having a reception in the Community Hall.
Financial matters
In order to cover church expenses, the cost is $1,250. This includes the use of the church facility, the time and participation of the minister and the pianist, administration, archiving and sound.
Should you require additional staff such as soloists, musicians or custodians, they can be arranged at additional cost.
Some Questions to Consider
Do you wish to use the church sanctuary (seats 250), or a funeral home?
Do you wish to have a funeral service (casket is present) or a memorial service (no casket)?
When there is cremation, do you wish to have the urn present?
Is there a special picture that you would like to place on the communion table for the service?
What music and musicians would you like to have? What sort of music did your loved one like?
What scripture passages would you like read? Is there someone special you wish to read?
Are there any other readings or poetry you would like read?
Do you wish to have a family member or friend share their memories of your loved one?
Is there anyone else you would like to participate in the service?
Do you wish to have a bulletin or program of the service?
What floral tributes would you like to have?
Do you wish to use the church hall for a reception?
Do you wish to have a “memory table” at the reception?
A list of suggestions of readings and hymns for your service can be provided by the ministerial staff.
