Wayne and Berlita on finding their fit

Our September 2024 focus is an invitation to find where you fit in the Cedar Park United community, and make a difference in your own unique way. Wayne West has found his fit and a sense of belonging here, and was happy to share his story.

"For me, this community is all about the welcome. I take adaptive transport to Cedar Park United for Sunday worship and community meals. Whenever I show up, I'm given such a warm welcome—that's what means the most to me. To be part of this community of welcome. So when I got engaged to Berlita recently, I of course wanted to bring her here to experience that welcome along with me. And she feels it, too."

While Wayne and Berlita have reduced mobility, our wheelchair-accessible walkway, doors and indoor spaces mean they can still come and go and participate. At yesterday's Community Connections, they were the welcome team at the door together, making sure each person who arrived felt that same warm welcome and got a smile. Berlita wrote out the nametags while Wayne was the DJ, playing music on his phone and getting people singing along while they made sandwiches for Bread and Beyond.
