Cedar Park United has developed connections with so many of the wonderful organizations and people in our neighbourhood and beyond who are doing amazing work. Our Beautiful Day in the Neighbourhood event aims to let more neighbours know what they do—and to celebrate all that connects us.
We’re inviting all our neighbours to stop by on Saturday, September 19 between 11 - 4 PM and enjoy mini-concerts, drumming, yoga, popcorn and cotton candy with games on the lawn, Victor Rose coffee, an eco-musical workshop for the young and young at heart and the chance to make essentials boxes with Bread and Beyond.
And at 4:30, we’ll gather on the front lawn for our 5th annual Longest Table community meal!
Cedar Park United a tissé des liens avec de nombreuses organisations et personnes de notre quartier et d’ailleurs, qui accomplissent un travail remarquable. Notre événement « Une si belle journée dans notre quartier » a pour but de faire connaître leur travail important à nos voisin.es et de célébrer tout ce qui nous unit.
Nous invitons tous nos vosin.e.s au 204 Lakeview le samedi 19 septembre entre 11 h et 16 h pour profiter de mini-concerts, de sessions de percussions, de cours de yoga, de pop-corn et de barbe à papa, ainsi que de jeux sur la pelouse, d’un café Victor Rose, d’un atelier éco-musical pour les jeunes et ceux qui le sont restés, et de la possibilité de confectionner des « boîtes d’essentiels » avec Au-delà du pain.
Et à 16 h 30, nous nous réunirons sur la pelouse devant le bâtiment pour notre 5e repas communautaire annuel « La table communautaire la plus longue » !

The Princess and the Frog, autrement
11:15 - 12:15 Community Hall/ Salle communautaire
Performance is 30 minutes, followed by a 30-minute workshop.
The Princess and the Frog autrement, an eco-musical workshop for the young and young at heart, with Shelley and Stephen Snow. This performance is based on a full length play that is presently being prepared for future theatre and film production.
Experience wonderful music and a fun story, learn how to stretch your frog legs, croak like frog and let the artist in you come out in a frog craft.
Come away with a renewed desire to care for creation—from frogs to trees to everything in your own back yard!
La présentation dure 30 minutes, suivie de l’atélier qui dure 30 minutes.
« La Princesse et la grenouille, autrement », un atelier éco-musical pour les jeunes et ceux celles qui ont gardé leur âme d’enfant, animé par Shelley et Stephen Snow. Ce spectacle est adapté d'une pièce de théâtre intégrale qui fait actuellement l'objet d'une préparation en vue d'une future production théâtrale et cinématographique.
Découvrez une musique merveilleuse et une histoire amusante, étirez vos pattes de grenouille, coassez comme une grenouille et laisser libre cours à l’artiste en vous à travers un bricolage sur le thème de la grenouille.
Repartez avec une envie renouvelée de prendre soin de la création — des grenouilles aux arbres, en passant par tout ce qui se trouve dans votre propre jardin !
Shelley Snow is a multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter and composer who has been creating music since the age of 3. She is also a licensed psychotherapist and sound therapist. She has composed over 100 songs for musical theatre productions at the Centre for the Arts in Human Development at Concordia University. Upon the release of her first album of original vocal music she was hailed by Billboard Magazine as “a truly original artist”. She has performed her own music internationally and is currently at work on a new vocal album.
Stephen Snow is an actor, a drama therapist and a social justice and environmental activist. He co-founded the graduate drama therapy program at Concordia University where he taught for 28 years. He has performed in over 100 theatre productions, directed another 20, including at Place des Arts, and written a dozen playscripts. He holds a Ph.D. in performance studies from New York University.
Eric Mongerson (technical director) works as lighting and set designer as well as consultant and technical director. Recently he worked with Aurore Liang, at la Porte Rouge, and with Stephen and Shelley Snow’s production of The Poisoned Tree. He taught scenography and technology at Concordia University for many years and was chair of the theatre department. His students have designed for the Cirque du Soleil, on and off Broadway, London’s West End, and at the Shaw and Stratford festivals.
Acappella Sounds Chorus

Our chorus is part of SingUnited International, an amazing group of real women, singing real harmony and having real fun today! Our a cappella chorus invites women to enrich their lives by realizing their full singing potential.
Our rehearsals are open to potential new members, so why not pay us a visit? We rehearse every Wednesday evening at 7 PM at Cedar Park United.
Notre chorale fait partie de l'Association Internationale des "SingUnited", un groupe renommé de femmes tout à fait extraordinaires. En vous joignant à nous, vous vivrez des expériences uniques et enrichissantes dans l'art du chant acappella.
Nos répétitions sont ouvertes à toute femme désireuse de se joindre à nous, pourquoi ne pas en tirer avantage? Nos répétitions ont lieu tous les mercredis soirs à 19 h 00 à l'église Cedar Park United.
Introductory Chair Yoga

Saidiana completed a yoga teacher training in her native Venezuala, before completing another training at Sun and Moon yoga in Dorval. She believes that anyone can do yoga—including you!
Saidiana a suivi une formation de professeur de yoga dans son pays natal, le Venezuela, avant de suivre une autre formation au studio Sun and Moon Yoga, à Dorval. Elle est convaincue que tout le monde peut pratiquer le yoga, y compris vous !
Dr. Wayne Johnson
1:30 - 1:40 PM, Sanctuary/ Sanctuaire
Dr. Wayne Johnson was born in Kingsport, Tennessee, a small town near the Great Smoky Mountains. He moved to Québec in 2021 and is enjoying retirement with his wife Gia, a native of Montreal.
Wayne has enjoyed a long career as a concert pianist, accompanist, church musician, recording artist, and university professor. He served as a soloist and accompanist for the U.S. Army Field Band and Soldiers' Chorus in the early 1970’s and earned his MM and DMA degrees in Piano Performance from the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music in Ohio. From 1977 until his retirement in 2014, Dr. Johnson was a Professor of Music at Seattle Pacific University in Seattle, WA.
His recordings include piano works by Armenian-American composer Alan Hovhaness on Crystal Records, and a CD entitled “Salon Classics from the Golden Age of the Piano.”
Wayne has played in worship at Cedar Park United regularly since 2024 as well as at several Afternoon Tea Concerts for Seniors.
Le Dr Wayne Johnson est né à Kingsport, dans le Tennessee, une petite ville située près des Great Smoky Mountains. Il s'est installé au Québec en 2021 et profite de sa retraite aux côtés de son épouse Gia, originaire de Montréal.
Wayne a mené une longue carrière de pianiste de concert, d’accompagnateur, de musicien d’église, d’artiste de studio et de professeur d’université. Il a été soliste et accompagnateur au sein de l’U.S. Army Field Band et du Soldiers’ Chorus au début des années 1970 et a obtenu une maîtrise (MM) et un doctorat (DMA) en interprétation pianistique au Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, dans l’Ohio. De 1977 jusqu’à sa retraite en 2014, le Dr Johnson a été professeur de musique à la Seattle Pacific University, à Seattle, dans l’État de Washington.
Parmi ses enregistrements figurent des œuvres pour piano du compositeur arméno-américain Alan Hovhaness chez Crystal Records, ainsi qu’un CD intitulé « Salon Classics from the Golden Age of the Piano ».

Daniel Benedetti

A passionate and versatile musician, Daniel Benedetti has performed as a pianist, accordionist, and conductor.
He graduated with distinction in a Bachelor’s degree in piano at McGill University in 2025, for which he studied with Martin Karlicek, and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in piano performance at McGill, currently studying with Jacques Després and previously with Stéphane Lemelin and Katherine Chi. His academic achievements at McGill have earned him numerous scholarships. He has studied accordion privately with Vladimir Sidorov, Dino Leone, and Mary Tokarski.
Daniel has won prizes at competitions in Canada and the United States, including provincial gold medals for his Royal Conservatory of Music Level 8 and Level 10 piano exams as well as several awards that gave him the opportunity to perform as a soloist with various orchestras, most notably with I Musici de Montréal.
Daniel regularly performs as a soloist, chamber musician, and collaborative pianist in various settings; career highlights so far include multiple re-invitations to the Festival de la Voix de Montréal, the Carrefour Mondial de l'Accordéon in Montmagny, the Montreal Symphony Orchestra’s Pre-Concert series, and stepping in as a soloist in Grieg’s piano concerto with the West Island Youth Symphony Orchestra. He has shared the stage with internationally renowned musicians including sopranos Sharon Azrieli and Makiko Awazu, mezzo Ariane Girard, tenor Manrico Tedeschi, and accordionist Vladimir Sidorov.

Community Drumming with Irene Feher
2 - 3 PM, Community Hall
Irene is a dynamic performer, presenter, and improvisation facilitator. Formally trained in both classical (mezzo-soprano) and contemporary singing, Irene is a versatile performer with a vast repertoire of songs. She also designs and facilitates customized vocal improvisation and technique workshops, community rhythm circles, and free improvisation jams/workshops for small and large groups of instrumentalists and singers of all levels.
A sensitive improvising sound artist, Irene studied the healing power of sound with renowned researcher and author Dr. Shelley Snow, and is now offering sound baths.
Cedar Park United is delighted that Irene will now be offering community drumming circles at Cedar Park United on Healing Mondays, starting September 21 from 11:15 - 12:30.
Irene est une artiste de scène dynamique, une animatrice et une facilitatrice d’improvisation. Ayant suivi une formation officielle en chant classique (mezzo-soprano) et contemporain, Irene est une artiste polyvalente dotée d’un vaste répertoire de chansons. Elle conçoit et anime également des ateliers sur mesure d’improvisation vocale et de technique vocale, des cercles rythmiques communautaires, ainsi que des sessions d’improvisation libre et des ateliers destinés à des groupes de petite et grande taille, composés d’instrumentistes et de chanteurs de tous niveaux.
Artiste sonore et improvisatrice sensible, Irène a étudié le pouvoir thérapeutique du son auprès de la célèbre chercheuse et autrice, le Dre Shelley Snow, et propose désormais des bains sonores.
Cedar Park United se réjouit qu’Irène anime désormais des cercles de percussions communautaires lors des « Healing Mondays », à partir du 21 septembre, de 11 h 15 à 12 h 30.
Cantabile Chorale
3:30 - 3:40 PM, Sanctuary/ Sanctuaire
Founded in 1985 and under the direction of Peter Willsher since 1992, the Cantabile Chorale performs two major choral works per year. Past performances include the German Requiem by Brahms, the Missa Solemnis and the Ninth Symphony by Beethoven, the St. Matthew and St. John Passions and Mass in B minor by J.S.Bach and other works. The Cantabile Chorale is committed to offering emerging soloists the opportunity to perform major choral works and provides a positive and challenging environment for amateur singers and musicians to develop their musical abilities.
This fall, the Cantabile will be rehearsing at Cedar Park United.
Fondé en 1985 et sous la direction de Peter Willsher depuis 1992, la Chorale Cantabile présente deux œuvres chorales importantes par an. Les représentations passées incluent, entre autres, le Requiem de Mozart, le Requiem allemand de Brahms, la Messe solennelle et la Neuvième symphonie de Beethoven, les Passions selon St-Jean et St-Mathieu et la Messe en si mineur de Bach et autres œuvres. La Chorale Cantabile s’engage à offrir aux solistes émergents l’occasion de participer à la production d’œuvres chorales et, aux chanteurs et musiciens amateurs, un environnement accueillant et stimulant pour parfaire leurs compétences musicales.
Cet automne, la chorale Cantabile va répéter à Cedar Park United.
Bread and Beyond
3:15 - 4 PM, Community Hall/Salle communautaire
Ann Hynna, Essentials Box Coordinator for Bread and Beyond, will lead us in the completion of as many bathroom essentials boxes as we have donated items for.
Everyone is invited to bring these specific items when they come, or in the week leading up to September 19.
Cedar Park United is the “West Island Love Hub” for Bread and Beyond, allowing them to expand their reach to the West Island so more people can be part of their important work.
Since 2023, Cedar Park United has been making sandwiches for Bread and Beyond, as well as collecting household items for Essentials Boxes. We are so grateful for this collaboration.
Ann Hynna, coordinatrice des Boîtes à éssentiels pour Au-delà du pain, nous aidera à préparer autant de coffrets de produits pour la salle de bain que nous aurons reçu de dons.

Longest Table Community Meal

Our first longest table event was in 2022, which makes this year’s our 5th. What a perfect way to bring a Beautiful Day in the Neighbourhood to a close!
If this will be your first time participating, or if you need a reminder, here it is:
We’re all invited to bring some food for ourselves and a bit more to share. It can be anything from a charcuterie board to a loaf of bread, a bag of chips or some sandwiches or even a takeout pizza! And yes, desserts are welcome, too.
We put all the food on the long tables, put our phones away and enjoy meeting new neighbours, kind of like this.
We’re each asked to bring our own plates and utensils, to keep cleanup simple.
We all clean up together and call it a night at 6:30.
Invite a neighbour, invite a friend who would otherwise be eating alone, and come fill up that long table together!
Notre premier événement « La plus longue table » a eu lieu en 2022, ce qui fait de celui de cette année notre 5e édition. Quelle belle façon de clôturer une « Belle journée dans le quartier » !
Si c’est la première fois que vous y participez, ou si vous avez besoin d’un petit rappel, voici comment ça se passe :
Nous sommes tous invités à apporter de quoi manger pour nous-mêmes et un peu plus à partager. Ça peut être n’importe quoi : un plateau de charcuterie, une miche de pain, un paquet de chips, des sandwichs ou même une pizza à emporter ! Et oui, les desserts sont les bienvenus aussi.
On dispose toute la nourriture sur les longues tables, on range nos téléphones et on profite de l’occasion pour faire connaissance avec de nouveaux voisins, un peu commme ceci.
On demande à chacun d’apporter ses propres assiettes et couverts, pour faciliter le rangement.
On range tous ensemble et on termine la soirée à 18 h 30.
Invitez un voisin, invitez un ami qui, sinon, mangerait seul, et venez remplir cette longue table tous ensemble !
