“Advent” comes from a Latin word which means “coming” or “arriving (soon)”. It is the season of preparation for the coming to Earth in human form of the child of God’s heart and human longing, Jesus Christ. It is also the Season where we learn for ourselves how we too can embody hope, peace, joy and love in a world that so badly needs them. In today’s Scripture, human longing for a better day is met by God’s promises, and hope is kindled, like a flame in the dark.
Our worship begins at 9:55 AM (ET) onsite and online. To make sure you can participate in the online worship live chat, please take a moment beforehand to 1) subscribe to the CPU YouTube Channel and 2) comment on at least one of our previous videos. Our Worship Welcomer looks forward to greeting you!
Families with children are invited to the Family Pray Space, a sensory-friendly activity space for parents and kids of all kinds. Children’s Worship for children of all ages begins partway through the service—it’s an experience of the holy that happens outdoors or in the Community Hall.
You’re warmly invited to stay after worship for coffee and conversation in community in the Sanctuary.
